To my bidders: For years I have done business on eBay using the name: gpstorageco*. The items I will be selling from this point on are being sold from my estate and from the estates of friends and relatives. This WWII US M1 Garand or US M1903 Springfield Bayonet belonged to a friend of mine who recently passed away. He set aside vintage military items over the years. This blade was on display with a mint WWII M1 Garand Rifle. It was directly purchased from a US Army Vet years ago. This particular bayonet was manufactured by American Fork & Hoe during WWII and is the cutdown version (see photos). Cutdown M1 Garand bayonets were originally produced with 16 inch blades but were reworked by government contractors during WWII to shorten the blades to 10 inches (see photos). Showing light/minimal use/wear the blade retains most all of the original gray parkerized finish as re-worked (see photos). It appears to have rework sharpening only and has a very sharp edge now. Ricasso has makers name (AFH), US with the ordnance mark and the date 1943 to one side (see photos). Pommel & crossguard have most all finish remaining overall as well and the rework contractor (AFH) is stamped to the backstrap (see photos). Grips are the seldom seen brown plastic type, are clean/tight & remain solid/intact with no dings or cracks (see photos). Spring loaded release button is present above the crossguard and works perfectly. Crossguard is tight and doesn't wobble. The scabbard is mint clean/solid overall - no edge cracks or worn areas. 99% of the original olive drab paint remains to the body and there is a Victory Plastic production logo to the reverse (see photos). Top fitting is clean overall, is marked US and has the utility belt hook to the reverse (see photos). This is a mint/super clean WWII M1 Garand Bayonet by American Fork & Hoe. It shows minimal/light use/wear, makes an excellent presentation and is guaranteed to be an original period piece as described. Great opportunity to complete a display with a mint AFH cutdown style M1 bayonet. Really a super piece overall. Probably reworked before it was ever issued in the first place and reworked by the same manufacturer. Nicest cutdown style I have seen.
