VTG Diorio's-Egyptian Revival-Enamel-Peking Glass- Bib Style Necklace

Please come back often, as we are always buying more goodies to list on ebay. This listing is for an extraordinary, vintage Egyptian Revival necklace by Diorio's This is an amazing piece! Egyptian styled jewelry was highly fashionable in the 1920s and Egyptian Revival statement jewelry such as this were a big thing in the fashion world during the late 1960s and early to mid 1970s. It's a little difficult to find information on Diorio's jewelry simply because the name is so close to Dior that search engines keep directing me that way. I believe this piece to most likely be a 1970s creation based on other listings of their jewelry I've found while researching this piece. This is just truly a remarkable and high-quality piece of fashion jewelry. It's bib style and certainly makes a statement. The chain is also rather unique. The large blue scarab looks like lapis lazuli but it is actually Peking glass. I'm unsure what the two smaller scarabs are made of. I think they may be some form of resin or celluloid. The necklace depicts a scene with two adults and two children. The adults are holding what looks like weapons or something over their heads in one hand and each is balancing a scarab in the other. The children are knelt at the knees of the adults and holding up something. A large bird with outstretched wings presides over the scene. I don't know what's being represented here, but it is a beautiful representation of an ancient culture lost to time. The necklace's condition looks beautiful, but upon close inspection, it does show some wear and damage from time. Please keep in mind that this is a 50 year old, if not older, item. And for being that age, it doesn't show a lot of damage. The damage is mainly confined to small nicks, chips, or hiarline cracks here and there in the enamel. There are 7 charms dangling from the bottom of the necklace, of which four are scarabs balancing on a base of some sort. The base of the lapis blue scarab dangling on the outside of the row of charms appears slightly bent inward. Also, the top portion of the necklace, from which the large square dangles, looks a little bit bowed inward to me. I think this is an illusion, as the square is actually slightly concaved outward, and the top piece is mostly flat in the center, but the sides raise upward as part of the design, and these two things accentuate the bowed effect. Basically, I believe this to be a design element and not a defect. There appears to also be a little bit of clear glaze at the base of the top piece on the back. I imagine this was done to prevent the top piece from bumping against the heavier square and chipping the enamel. Having said all this, these are things you only notice if you are looking at the necklace up close, under the magnification and light of a jeweler's loop. The enamel used in this piece is rich in color in shades of turquoise blue, royal blue, emerald green, and rust red. As stated, some of the enamel is chipped in places or has hairline cracks, but most is intact and the necklace's overall appearance is extremely beautiful. With vintage jewelry that's near or over 50 years old, a few age-related condition issues are to be expected. The chain length is 8.5 inches on each side, and it comes to a point on the pendant where it meets behind the scarab, so the necklace fits like a 17 inch necklace. Keep in mind, however, that the pendant is very large. The pendant is made up of three sections and all together measures 6 inches in length and about 4 inches in width, at its widest. The necklace is signed Diorio's on the back of the square portion of the pendant. The necklace is plated in an antiqued gold finish or a bronze finish. This is such an outstanding piece of vintage fashion that words don't do it justice so be sure to examine all the photos and use the zoom feature for a better idea of details and condition, and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
