The American Campaign Medal was awarded for service within the American Theater between 7 December 1941 and 2 March 1946 within the following criteria: On permanent assignment outside the Continental United States. Permanently assigned as a crew member on an ocean-going ship for 30 consecutive or 60 nonconsecutive days. On temporary assignment outside of the Continental United States for 30 consecutive or 60 nonconsecutive days. On assignment within the Continental United States for an aggregate period of one year.
