Given this and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This seldom seen vintage 1970's Paul Garnier has a lovely satin blue "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. In my humble opinion the dial and patina couldn't be more pleasing and looks markedly better in person. The black bezel, which rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "TESTED WATER RESISTANT INCABLOC ALL STEEL SWISS MADE" with "AUTOMATIC" followed by "10 ATM" and "461" stamped in the center. The crystal shows scratching and dust/debris on its underbelly. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this particular watch is torqued too tight for me to remove. The 17 jewels automatic movement with semi-quickset date function runs strong, albeit a bit slow, and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement lost about 2 minutes by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period. Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11 mm. This watch comes on a NOS, fully pliable 20 mm SUB strap with signature "MADE IN ITALY" stamped straight edge buckle. Given that the movement runs a bit slow and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.
