Description: Vintage 1930s Floral Sheer Gown Dress in Pale Yellow and Apricot (with Vintage Olga Full Slip, if you want it!) I bought this vintage dress online in 2019 to wear for a portrait, and haven't worn it since. A dress like this shouldn't just be hanging in a closet. It is a work of art, and it's time to pass it along to someone who will wear it! I believe the dress is handmade, as there are no tags. Whoever made it was incredibly meticulous and crafted a garment that has withstood the test of time. It is in beautiful condition--I can find no holes, pulls, or loose seams. The stitching and cut of the dress are stellar. The only issue is that the very ends of the sash and the neck tie tend to curl (I included some closeups). The collar rolls a bit also, but because of the busy pattern, it's not obvious. Measurements taken lying flat:Armpit to armpit: 19 inchesWaist measurement taken at the horizontal seam: 16 inchesHip measurement taken at the top of the godet: 18.75 inchesLength measuring from hollow to hem: 46.5 inches in the front center; the sides of the gown are longer. Arm openings: 5.25 inchesSash dimensions: 4.75 inches wide by 111 inches long (the ends of the sash, pictured, are angled, making it a really long trapezoid. The 111 inches is the measurement of the shorter side. The fabric is a sheer organza; I can't tell the composition for sure, but It feels like there's nylon in it. It could be silk, but I doubt it. The print is a lovely floral that is mostly pale yellow and peach/apricot, with some dark brown and white. I would only dry clean, and if you attempt to iron the collar or the neck tie or sash, use the lowest setting and a pressing cloth, and don't linger! If you try a steamer, don't get it too close to the fabric, and move quickly. Heat melts nylon. While it's not completely transparent, it is sheer enough that you'll want to wear a slip underneath it. If you are interested, I'm happy to include the slip I bought to wear with it at no extra charge. It's a size 34 vintage Olga slip that looks like it might be from around the '80s. I would call it a modern size 4. I've included photos of the slip (see last photo). The photos of the dress on the mannequin are from the listing in 2019. It helps to see the dress on a body! I also included one of the shots from my portrait session. Please look at all photos closely, as they are part of the description. Let me know if you have any questions or need additional photos.
