Description: Please note I am not sure if this is a World War I helmet , or an earlier helmet, or later, Also Please note I am not an expert on this helmet at all, so all this information is just my opinion, you'll have to be the judge of this fantastic collectors item for yourself. I believe this is a WORLD WAR II US MILITARY 1 STAR GENERAL BRIGADIER HELMET , with a partial leather insert . Now this US HELMET does have a gentleman's name written in there very hard to see , but it's looks like it's marked SSG REINEEHLD.W. I'm sure that's not the exact spelling , but that's what it looks like to me , it also has a DSA number and says headliner inside on the canvas part , but it's very hard to read the numbers, I just want to be upfront with you . I think which is really cool and very rare it's got SSG name which stands for staff sergeant, on the inside liner and then it had the one star general emblem in the front, I believe the helmet had to be used multiple times, pretty cool I think, just my opinion. please take a look at ALL the pictures. Now the leather insert does come out, it is not fixed it's partially plastic or feels like a hard plastic, leather, and canvas. this is a super cool item that I found on the east coast of the United States , the Maryland area to be exact , and this is exactly the way I found it . I did not do anything to it whatsoever , I didn't try to wipe off the dust, I didn't try to clean it up in any way whatsoever , I just took pictures. Now there some heavy paint on there , so I can't see if there's any other markings on the helmet, I looked carefully , but I could not find any markings, there may be some other markings under the paint. Please note this is a used item , so it does have scratches, missing parts, dings, dents, missing paint, and it's missing the one star that's supposed to be in front of the helmet, but again this is all to be expected for as old as this item is. I'm sure there may be some other markings , but I just can't seem to find it without taking off the paint ,and I don't want to take off the paint. I think this is a fantastic find , and I'm going to start the bidding off low , because I want this to go to a great collector , who can enjoy this item as I did. The front of it had a star or there, used to be a star on there , so it obviously may have been a one-star general helmet ,which is really cool, but again I'm not an expert you'll have to be the judge of this fantastic collectors item for yourself. Please make sure and take a look at ALL the pictures, and if you have any questions at all ,or need more pictures feel free to contact me . if you have any information on this helmet I'd love to hear from you ,thank you so much for looking and good luck. Please save me as a seller if you enjoy collecting these military items, because I have a lot of items like helmets, badges, knives, and much much more ,from the Civil War all the way up to recent Wars ,And everything in between.
