NORTH OF ULALASKA ALASKASKETCHED ON BOARD S.S. OLYMPIA 5 a.m. JUNE 1ST 1900IN THE BAY BEHIND THE BLUFF ON RIGHT HAND.S.S. LAURADO WAS WRECKED LAST YEAR. ISLANDIS BARREN, ABOUT 35 MILES S.E. OF ST PAUL.ST PAUL ISLAND IS A SEALING STATION, THE LARGEST OF THE GROUP. HAS A INDIAN VILLAGE.The image on the reverse side is captioned:CAP CHEERFUL, WESTERN ENTRANCE OF UNALASKA BAY.JUNE 0, 1900 AT 9 p.m. S. S. OLYMPIA. I know very little about these images. It was discovered inan estate belonging to avid collectors of art and antiques.I'm guessing the artist was aboard the ships mentioned anddrew or painted these images and then described them.Whether he/she was someone of note I cannot say.Total size of blue matting: 11" x 13 1/4".
