Custom designed 3D printed hinges I too was faced with this problem, and the more I looked into it, the more I thought that this just can not be that hard. It took a little time, a few tries and failures, and a few moments of "what if I did this?" The result is a replacement hinge with none of the problems of the factory ones, is affordable, reliable, and easy to install. I designed these hinges for my Technics SL-B350 because I thought I could do better than the factory hinges, and probably do it cheaper. These hinges are a little different than the factory ones; they do not use springs but instead have a hard stop at a little over straight up to keep the lid open as shown above, they also have the lid shifted up about a quarter of an inch to help with alignment, durability, and balance. While I was at it I made it fit the lid a little deeper so that more of the plastic "lip" was being held, reducing the changes of them breaking off. I have been using them on my turntable for a while and they work fantastic. I can not say how long they will last, but since there is no stress caused by a strong spring (because it doesn't use one!) I would imagine that it should last far longer than the factory ones. The two parts of the hinges are held together by a #8 bolt and a nylon lock washer. That nylon lock washer ensures that the nut will never fall off causing your cover to come crashing down and possibly breaking. Lots of turntables use these hinges It turns out that a lot of turntables by Curtis Mathis, Technics, MCS, Panasonic, Quazar, Yamaha, Etc all use this same design and so I put the measurements in the following images: While many turntables can use these hinges, please make sure you measure your existing hinges and that these will work before ordering these replacements. Google can quickly convert inch measurements into millimeters if needed. These are also designed to hold a plexiglass lid. If your lid is more than just a piece of plexiglass it may prove too heavy for the hinges. These hinges are designed to fit turntables that have the type of hinge areas as shown above.
