These were compiled into the Southern Historical Society "Papers". They were published in the late 19th Century, comprising 52 volumes of articles written by Southern soldiers, officers, politicians, and civilians; the 3-volume index was added later. The book set presents the Southern perspective on the Civil War and it opposed the bias commonly presented by Northern historians. The set provides an excellent history of the war-time South. First-hand battle accounts, diaries, letters, articles, correspondence, and reviews are included. Under the auspices of men such as Dabney Herndon Maury, Robert E. Lee, Alexander H. Stephens, Wade Hampton, and Jubal Early, The Southern Historical Society published almost 20,000 pages of material, including many articles which became famous in their own right. New to this edition are Biographical Sketches of the Founders, A History of the Southern Historical Society, Battle Synonyms, an improved and enlarged Index with a cross-referenced chart for Confederate units and their local designations, many additional entries, and corrections to the original index. Additionally Volume 15 includes the Paroles of the Army of Northern Virginia. This is a brand new, unread, pristine condition, complete, matching, 55-volume book set (the 52-volume set, plus a comprehensive, 3-volume index that cross references all volumes for easy access.) Sample set shown; your set is brand new and comes in the original, publisher's shrink wrap. The books are bound in textured, black covers, with the gold image of the series on the covers, and gold lettering and lined highlights on a red, spine block. The books have no wear. They are sharp, bright, and clean. The binding is solid throughout. There isn’t a mark in the set; the pages are clean, bright white and in excellent condition. A wonderful collection of Southern history. Track Page Views WithAuctiva's Counter
