Description: Sony HVL-F42AM Flash for Sony Alpha & Konica Minolta DSLRs/SLTs Near Mint Condition Powerful, Affordable Wireless Flash This Sony flash is fully compatible with your Sony Alpha DSLR and SLT. It is a little more difficult to find because of its popularity on the used market and it is also compatible with Minolta Maxxum film cameras and Minolta 5D and 7D digital cameras. This flash requires an adapter for use with Sony E/FE mount camera bodies. It has the original style shoe for DSLRs and SLTs. Please check your camera body for compatibility - see photo #2 for shoe type. The HVL-F42AM is the upgraded replacement for the F36AM, with slightly more power output (a GN of 42m vs. 36m) and a few extra important features. The head pivots and bounces as before but now locks in at specific detents. The diffuser is now recessed and attached to the head – you simply pull it out and flip it down for use. You will not be able to lose it! The F42AM has manual power settings, a big feature not found on the F36AM, with full, ½, ¼, and so on down to 1/32 power. There is a “test” fire button as well for easier use in portrait/light meter shooting and set up. This was a very popular Sony flash while in production (now replaced by the HVL-F43AM) in that it offers many features including full DSLR compatibility, dual channel wireless shooting, a powerful guide number of 42 meters (about 128 feet), high speed synch and wide-angle coverage to 24mm with the internal zoom head and diffuser. This particular flash, (S/N 12842xx) is in near mint condition. You will be hard pressed to tell the flash is not new outside of some normal, very light wear to the AF Illuminator and a few scuffs on the body. Even the rear panel is unmarked. This flash is not compatible with original Maxxum 5000/7000/9000 film cameras but will work with all other Maxxum film cameras as well as all Sony Alpha DSLRs and SLTs.
