Description: SEAGRAM, DORIS, Died at 89 Years Old "2004" Doris Gillespie Seagram was Born in Toronto to mother Elizabeth Perry Gillespie, and father George Gillespie, she won the Governor Generals Medal at the Royal Ontario College of Art as the first in her class for her outstanding art talent and achievements. She then continued her art studies and training in two years at the Royal Art Academy in Cornwell, England. After returning to Toronto she began a fabulously successful professional career painting portraits of Canada’s most prominent and influential people. Her life’s work include landscapes, floral paintings and hundreds of other works. Her career was regularly documented in “Canada’s Who’s-Who”. As one of Canada’s most highly acclaimed Artists and Portrait Painters Doris Seagram died on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 from a stem cell blood malfunction contracted in the hospital during a knee replacement surgery.
