Description: Christo and Jeanne-Claude LOT OF 10signed art cards THE GATES, CENTRAL PARK, NEW YORK CITY 1979-2005 Six of these show preparatory works that Christo created and were sold to finance the project. These cards are rare, Christo signed each of them. One is a reproduction of a 1980 when the planned color of the GATES was more golden – this transformed to more orange hues and the final color of the GATES was saffron. There are four of the completed work of art signed by both Christo and Jeanne-Claude. In February 2005, for 16 days Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s THE GATES were placed on the walkways of Central Park. The 7,503 gates were 16 feet tall and placed on 23 miles of walkways. These art cards depict this project by Christo and Jeanne-Claude – one among many of their fabulous temporary works of art. Their art goes beyond traditional painting and sculpture. They were both born on June 13, 1935 – Christo in Bulgaria and Jeanne-Claude in Casablanca. The met in Paris and became partners in life and began their collaboration creating epic projects. They lived In New York City. Jeanne-Claude died in 2009 and Christo in 2020.
