Description: Elegant Decorative PAIR Matching HANDLED PITCHERS, Embossed w/GOLD Highlights, FLORAL SPRAYS in CARTOUCHES, manufactured by Robert Hanke Porcelain Factory in Ladowitz, Bohemia, Austria, circa 1882-1914 DESCRIPTION: This beautiful pair of opposing pitchers was skillfully designed by the artist to be distinctly a left and right pair. The design includes floral sprays in the pink, purple, green and ivory color palette with raised white highlighting to give depth to the flowers. This is hand painted on the lovely pastel orange background which is further highlighted by gold on the intricate embossing. The overall quality of the design is quite professional. The gold trim on the rims is very rich looking and really accents the fancy handles. As is common on much of the handpainted porcelain of this era, the backs have a simpler floral design and do not have the gold paint. CONDITION: While this pair of pitchers is classified as used, its condition is excellent. We can find no defects and only slight damage. On the right handed pitcher, there is an old, small flake on the back of the handle at the top. See photo #7. On the left handed pitcher, there is a tight, short hairline on the top back inside near the handle. This is visible only on the inside and does not come through to the outside. See photo #8. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or other hairlines. Overall, the gold trim is solid & glossy with no wear. See the photos. DIMENSIONS: The pitchers have a widest diameter of 4" and a height of 9". The measurement from the handle to the opposite side is 4 3/8". HISTORY/MARKS: This factory manufactured & decorated porcelain and gift items in Ladowitz, Bohemia, Austria (now Ledvice, Czech Republic) in the time period 1882-1945 when factory was closed. In the early 1890’s, production capacity of pottery increased significantly from year to year and many high quality pieces were exported within Europe and even to the United States.
