Canvas has rippling in it to give the effect that an oil painting when the print image was applied. You be the just before acquiring. The piece was done by Richard Rummell, a listed artist. Rummell was with us from 1848 to 1924 Known for his Gouache and Watercolor paintings. Also known for his aerial city scape view. The artwork is signed in the lower left hand corner of the piece that is done on canvas. Mosel likely displayed in a travel agency back in the day.The piece is on canvas, no frame. This beautiful piece of artwork and history could use a good cleaning and some restoration work. Says Galindo Mfg Co on the back of the canvas which was at 26 W. Broadway in NY, NY. Nice rendering of the famous SS France Ocean Liner. Shows the french liner leaving New York City with the Statue of Liberty just to the right of the ship's bow. That would place it on the Hudson River. A number of tug boats can be seen in the foreground should any other assistance be necessary to the vessel. The canvas shows some loss of gouache and cracking to the paint, but stil a very impressive image captured by a very well know marine artist. One Ebayer has contacted us to say this may be an advertising piece made up for travel agencies by Galindo Mfg Co. Per their input. Pieces were done on board and canvas and made to look like a painting, when really not. The Richard Rummell Oil Print on Canvas is 15-3/16" tall, by 11" across.
