Description: Up for bid is a vintage USGI National Tool & Die marked M1 Carbine recoil check. Metal surfaces retain all of their parkerized finish. Backside of the body is marked "Check.Recoil.M1 NLD". NLD is the rarest of the two manufacturers used by the US Military. This is an original Recoil Check meant for the automatic version of the M1 Carbine, the M2. They were first made and used in 1945 at the end of WWII. It also is known as a muzzle break. As the photos will show, it is New Old Stock, unused. The manufacturer is NLD. It appears to be late WWII production but may be of Korean War vintage. Only two manufactures made the recoil check for US military use. NLD and .U. There is another you may often see for sale that was made for the State Department in the late ‘60’s by and for foreign use. I’ve owned this NLD Recoil Check and a .U. M2 Flash Hider for nearly 50 years. They are both genuine. Thanks for looking. -BFV
