Total Weight - Skull + 3 Rods = 4 oz! +/- Tungsten High Performance Skulls not only look great, they are also designed to be a High Performance and Aero Dynamic way to weight your Derby Car without going through a lot of drilling or routing out the car body. They are designed to keep the weight or COM (Center of Mass) highly concentrated which helps reduce Rotational Inertia when the car transitions on the curve from the ramp to the flat. Cars with the weight concentrated to the COM (Center of Mass) in the car are faster than cars with the weight more spread out. Think of it in terms of a Figure skater doing a spin on the ice. When they are spinning with their arms out (weight spread out) they are spinning slower than when they bring their arms in closer to their body (Concentrating their weight) and they are able to spin faster! High Performance Skulls as well as High Performance Canopies are a concentrated weight designed to be installed by simply locating where you want to place the weight (Center of Mass) on the top of the car, drill a 1/4" deep (accommodates thinner or thicker designed car bodies) x 3/8" diameter hole, glue it in place and you are ready to race! The Tungsten Rods can be installed by drilling 9/32" Hole in the side of the car (Behind rear axles) or routing out the rear of the Car as shown in a photo above. The Rods will add an extra little boost to the Horsepower! Tungsten High Performance Skull weights are easy to install! Drill a 1/4" deep 3/8" hole then Glue to your car. The Tungsten High Performance Skull is attached to the top side of the pinewood derby car. The Skull has a stud to help keep it in place. A 3/8" hole will be drilled in the top of the block for the stud. This 2.95 oz Tungsten Skull has a 3/8" stud for mounting to your car. Drill a 1/4" deep 3/8" hole then super glue to your car. 1 3/8" long x 13/16" wide x 1/2" tall 2.95 oz. total weight +/- .03 oz 3/8" stud Rods:9/32" diameter (Drill a 9/32" Diameter hole).Slightly less than 9/16" long Easy to mount and Race!
