Description: This is a lovely pair of white porcelain bird figurines (each with two birds for a total of four birds), made by Erphilia in Germany. The mark on the bottom of each figurine shows that these birds were imported into the U.S. by ER which stands for the Ebeling & Reuss Company. The Ebeling & Reuss Company was an import company that was established in Philadelphia in 1866 by Theodore Ebeling and Frederick Reuss, who were German emigrants. The Ebeling & Reuss Company was noted for importing fine china and porcelain teapots, dinnerware and gift items from factories in Germany, Czechoslovakia and other European countries. These two white Erphilia bird figures are probably not a true pair due to their different bases but they compliment each other nicely. One is approximately 5 1/2 inches tall and the other is 5 inches tall. Although there are no chips or other damage to either figurine, one of the birds has a very tiny dot of blue glaze on its back. This tiny blue speck is difficult to see unless you are looking for it and does not detract from the beauty of these white birds.
