Description: This Fritjof Nansen Set consists of a 20 kroner 1995 in Copper Nickel and a silver medal. The silver medal is 24.8 grams and a purity of 0.925. Mintage is 7000. A crew of 12 and supplies for 5 years of sailing, the Fram ship left Norway in July 1893 and followed the Northwest Passage to deliberately get stuck in the ice drifting towards the North Pole. In March 1895, Fritjof Nansen and Hjalmar Johansen left the ship to attempt reaching the North Pole on skis.
