Description: Antique French WWI military officers canvas and leather garment storage bag An interesting and highly collectable French uniform travel case produced before the first world war. It is made from a sturdy chestnut coloured canvas with leather straps and trim and metal buckles.Internally, there is a large pocket at the bottom, in which to sit the uniform, which is then secured by ties. Two side flap protectors are then folded over this and secured by two buckled leather straps. There are further ties to be used as needed.The bag can then be folded over and secured by the outer leather straps so the suit is held neatly and securely. Externally, there is a buckled pocket for further storage. The bag has a wooden support stake through the top beneath a sturdy leather carry handle. In very good used antique condition, the canvas is very stained but could be cleaned if desired. The leather is in generally good order but would benefit from some feed. There have been a couple of stitched repairs to the canvas internally as shown and there is a small hole on the front as shown.In all, considering its age and use, it hasn't fared too badly!!
