Description: Orange Coast AuctionsDescription M1903 Springfield Magazine Cutoffs These are the "Type 2" cutoffs as described in The Model 1903 Springfield Rifle and its Variations by Poyer and The Collectable '03 by Harrison. They do not have any manufacturer markings. This style was used by Springfield Armory from about 1914 through the end of M1903 production according to the references. They have sanserif ("block") lettering and have a round profile forward of the lever. Of the Type 2 cutoffs, we have three variations based on the finish. Gray Phosphate: These all appear new and have a smooth gray finish. Blued: These have a black finish, possibly an oil-quenched finish. The "ON" side of the lever is polished. Blued, not polished: These have the same black finish but the "ON" side of the lever has not been polished, or it was polished smooth but has blue/black finish now. The listing is for one cutoff. These are all original USGI parts. They were stored in grease for a long time. We have cleaned and sorted them. You may still find some grease on the inside.
