Performance magazine reported Slade to be on the bill in one issue and Black Sheep in another. Regardless, Black Sheep were last minute replacements for originally billed openers R.E.O. Speedwagon. This show was the second advance sell-out for the venue.- From a local review: "In spite of all the hype, KISS is just another punk-rock band from Detroit. If you took the old MC5 and dressed them in greasepaint and leather costumes you would come up with something very close to KISS... It seems that all it takes to turn on a rock audience these days is an over abundance of volume, a basic knowledge of 4/4 time and a few theatrical gimmicks, no matter how hackneyed. That was the formula used by KISS Sunday night. KISS plays a brand of rock and roll that is basic in the extreme. Using a lineup of two guitars, bass and drums, they emphasize the bottom end of their sound, relying on rhythms that are always simple and occasionally catchy. By the end of a song, however, even the catchy rhythms have been pounded into oblivion through endless repetition. The theatrical gimmicks KISS uses are even more trite than their music" (Democrat & Chronicle, 10/7/76).Of Interest: Please see photos for condition. Check out my other kiss items.
