Description: HO Brass Union Pacific FEF-3 4-8-4 Custom Painted and Weathered #840 with Centipede Tender. Produced by Katsumi Models of Japan for Westside Model Co. in 1975. Following the success of the FEF-1 and FEF-2 4-8-4’s from Alco, the UP ordered 10 additional 4-8-4’s, dubbed the FEF-3’s, in 1944. Most remained in service until the end of steam on the UP in the late 1950’s. One – Cab #844 – continues to thrill railfans in executive excursion service. This model features a high degree of well-assembled details. The model runs smoothly. It has been stored idle for many years. There are some spots where the box foam deteriorated and adhered to the model surface. I have cleaned off most of it, but the model will certainly will benefit from a thorough cleaning and basic servicing. The original box is in good condition.
