Description: The designer of this jar, Helen Hutula, was a migrant from Finland who opened a small ceramics company in Burbank California in the 1940s. The TAT-L-TALE jars were her most well known designs. This jar makes a wonderful display piece as it is beautifully painted and detailed, and the colors are bright. There is a small chip at the top of her headscarf, and her pointing finger is missing. The rim of the bottom piece has some chips which are covered by the lid, and there are some chips on the apron. There is also a small crack on the apron. Please see the photos. Under the lid is the voicebox which no longer works. The intention of the voicebox was to make a sound when the lid was opened, so that TAT-L-TALE let Mom know that someone was raiding the cookie jar. The jar stands approximately 11" high. The bottom of the jar has a little crazing and is marked:Helen's - TAT-L-TALE Original Helen Hutula From a non-smoking and pet-free home.
