This is a first US edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling, published in 1998 by Scholastic Books. It has a fifth state dust jacket, with the Publishers Weekly review quote at the top of the rear jacket panel instead of the Guardian quote. With this book its all about the condition (if its not an extremely young first print) because it was used and passed on and reread over and over until it fell apart. The book itself is in extremely great shape. The dust cover is in great shape for being 25 years old. Hardly any wear for something of its age. Someone took great care of it. No writing inside of it like so many have. As shown in the photos: The jacket has a $17.95 cover price and the red UPC box with "51695" at the top right but is missing "JK" on top of the spine. The jacket does have a number "1" on the spine. The book does have a number "1" on the spine. The boards are textured purple diamond with red cloth at the spine, and the author's name (missing her first initials) and the book title are both stamped gold gilt. A great edition for any collection. From the publisher: Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle.
