Description: GLENN GOULD - The Radio Artist (5 CD Set, 2007) **NEW** Glenn Gould exploded onto the Canadian classical music scene in 1956 with his exciting and energetic interpretations of a wide variety of classical standards. Listen in on vintage radio recordings with Glenn Gould: The Radio Artist to gain insight into this brilliant pianist's mind. Prepared and produced by Glenn Gould for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, these radio documentaries, or "oral tone poems" examine the lives of people living in isolation. To a Gould fan, this is more to obsess over. In review of the first 3 discs (the solitude series), they are both wonderful and inspiring to listen to; multi-layered and worth the effort it takes to pay attention to their content. To anyone else, or someone only passively interested in Gould, its a odd, dense collection of experimental radio shows about Canadian solitude. If that statement makes you curious, you may like the album. If you don't care about experimental radio shows too much, of for Gould's P.O.V. on things, this is not the disk for you. The last 2 disc contain radio shows on Casals and Stokowski for this 5 disc set. These are worth listing to by any casual listener remotely interested in the topic.
