Early Norris London No. 4 Smoothing Plane

Description: INCHMARTINE TOOL BAZAAR (Scotland)The UK's premier source for quality old woodworking tools for over 35 years. Early Norris of London No. 4 dovetailed steel coffin-shaped smoothing plane in pretty decent condition for its age. Early 1900's. Gunmetal lever cap with original probably walnut infill and near full length old replacement blade by Hearnshaw Brothers of Sheffield which is cast steel. The wood is a lovely colour. The plane is in pretty decent shape although there is a glued crack to the front bun which has also been strengthened by a lovely inlaid German silver shield. 7 1/4" long with 2" wide blade. Taken from the massive collection of tools we currently have in stock. Some of which came from the largest private tools collection in Scotland built up over 60 years which I purchased a couple of years ago. Many thousands of items purchased, I will be posting fresh items every week (probably until I die !!!!! there is so much of it).
