Application Rates Landscape To prepare new ground for cactuses or succulents, apply 1½-2½ lbs per 100 square feet and thoroughly mix into the top 3” of soil. For new transplants, apply to the planting hole 1 Tbsp of fertilizer per gallon of soil in the original container. Mix and water well. For established specimens, apply ½ cup per 6 inches of diameter and scratch gently into soil. Water well. 1½ cups ≈ 1 lb; ½ cup ≈ 4.6 oz; 1 tbsp ≈ 0.6 oz Fertilize cactuses after winter dormancy has ended, early in the active growing period. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks after the first application throughout the growing period, but do not apply fertilizer during the dormant period. Other succulents should be fertilized during their active growing period; this can occur at any time of year depending on the species. Fertilize every 4 weeks during the growing period.
