Description: King Rama IX Monument Coin Is loved by all Thai people The 10 Virtues of King Rama IX From the day he took the Oath of Accession, His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX) ruled with ?Dasavidha-rajadhamma? (?The 10 Virtues of Kings?). Throughout his seven-decade-long reign, he steadfastly held to his first royal command and pledge, to improve the welfare and well-being of Thai people, for the benefit of the country. Thailand enjoyed a happy peacetime due largely to his great benevolence and devotion. He delivered the nation from trouble whenever a crisis arose. His intellect, abilities, and calmness blessed Thailand with solid prosperity. Not only Thailand, but the rest of the world has recognized His Majesty?s talents and tireless devotion through his arduous royal deeds that have contributed tremendously to the whole society. King Rama IX was the ultimate developer, going to great lengths, both physically and intellectually, to carry out extensive royal works particularly during his trips to visit people across the country. Despite geographical obstacles, he never gave up in the face of tough routes to reach remote and barren areas in his bid to study geographical conditions, learn about his people?s living conditions, and plan ways to enhance people?s well-being and occupations that could generate adequate income. As a result, his firm dedication and strong determination in elevating the quality of life of Thai people generated more than 4,000 royal projects and initiatives. Through the consecration ceremony, it is very powerful. Dana(charity) refers to doing good works like giving aid in support of a charitable cause. The royal good works of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX) are ample testimony of this virtue. His Majesty made donations to people in need, particularly to the poor and disaster victims. He also granted support to different groups of people, including needy patients with chronic illnesses, the physically-challenged, and the elderly. Moreover, he offered scholarships to students and royal patronage to various charity organizations.** In the January drawing, King Rama IX is paying a royal visit to Nan on 31 January 1970. Actions and words must be honest, honorable, exemplary and respectable. His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX) demonstrated his high moral standards throughout his reign. He observed religious precepts with virtuous actions and words. On the administrative side, he complied with laws and legal traditions. On the religious side, he perfectly upheld the Five Precepts for Buddhists. Not only was King Rama IX a devout Buddhist, he was also a patron of Buddhism. His faith in Buddhism was deep. He briefly ordained as a monk to study Dhamma and strictly followed monastic rules in dedication to his people during his monkhood. After his disrobing and departure from the monkhood, King Rama IX still faultlessly abided by the Lord Buddha?s teachings and precepts. The King often discussed Dhamma with His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, then the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, and other senior monks.** In the February illustration, King Rama IX is having a Dhamma talk with His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, inside the ordination hall of Bowonniwet Vihara Temple on 5 October 1994. Pariccaga (altruism) is about sacrificing one?s personal happiness for the public good.Countless royal activities demonstrate how His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX) had refrained from pursuing personal pleasures and instead devoted himself to advancing the state of development of Thailand. He gave both his time and energy to reaching out to people in remote and barren areas. His commitment to look after his people?s well-being led him to travel extensively around the country. He would learn about their problems and explore solutions in order to enhance the quality of their lives and help meet public expectations of the established civil order.** In the March illustration, King Rama IX is visiting the people of Ban Dong Noi of Dong Mafai subdistrict, Mueang district in Sakon Nakhon province, and inspecting Huai Ruea Reservoir as well, on 13 August 1985.
