Condition Overall they are in very good condition. The paint is clear and bright with mino paint issues. These are original DMV issued steel plates. They have some minor scratches around the mounting holes but nest together very well. Please view the pictures for condition. Front plateThis plate has a little paint loss under the litter I, could be covered by a plate frame. The letter Y is missing paint on the left edge of the left leg. Rear plate There is an original DMV issued 1969 sticker in its proper position. The letter Y is missing paint on the left edge, and has minor paint chipping on the 9s. California YOM programThey can be used to register a passenger vehicle model years 1963 thru 1969 in the state of California under the YOM program. A 1963 or 1968 model year car can use them as is. 1964 thru 1968 model year cars must have the vehicle's proper model year sticker. 1964 thru 1968 stickers are available on other ebay sites. I have not heard of anyone having a problem with the DMV and reproduction stickers, as long as they have the right color and design. You can see the DMV paperwork by going to dmv.ca.gov and search for YOM, look for the PDF file for the form. The form lists the requirements for plates to qualify. Note that although the program is called "Year of Manufacture" (YOM), the required license sticker must match the MODEL year of the vehicle to be registered. 1963 through 1969 plates must be in the series AAA000 through YYY999, as shown in a conversation with CA DMV in the next-to-last picture. The DMV will issue the proper month and year stickers when registering. They will also include license toppers to display the current month and year registration stickers as shown in the last picture, if you do not want to display the current stickers on the original plates.
