Description: c.1963 Dr. Martin Luther King Typed Copy Letter From Birmingham Jail Cell - EP1 A very rare 6-page mimeograph copy (not Xerox) of a typed letter by Dr. Martin Luther King. The letter is titled, "Tears of Love - A Letter from his Birmingham Jail Cell". Period copy from 1963. Found in a Tacoma, WA estate. This letter is undated and is an alternative version to the the more widely known version that was published in Apr. 1963. The copy of this text is identical to the letter published in The Progressive, July 1963. Why Dr. King changed the text for later publication is unknown. My believe is that this copy dates prior to the The Progressive article, pre-July 1963. *25% of the fine sale about will go to The National Black Justice Coalition. Measures 8.5" x 11". Good condition, staple with age rust, slight discoloration to left side of paper. Ink marker lines to bottom right corner. Please see photos. CHECK MY OTHER LISTINGS!
