ATOMIC BOMBS END WWII - RESCINDED 1995 "STAMPS" - 4 DIFF TYPES (COMPLETE SET)

Description: ATOMIC BOMB "STAMP" - 4 DIFF. TYPES HISTORY: In 1994, the U.S. Postal Service planned to issue a stamp commemorating the conclusion of WWII through the use of atomic bombs in 1945. This stamp was to be part of the final series of stamps to commemorate the 50-year anniversary of WWII. After protests from Japanese government officials and intervention by President Clinton, the U.S. Postal Service reluctantly rescinded the planned atomic bomb stamp and replaced it with one of President Truman. This is the only time in history that a commemorative stamp was rescinded by the U.S. Postal Service. Ironically, the announcement was made public by the White House on December 7, 1994, exactly 53 years to the day after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. This commemorative atomic bomb poster stamp was created by a private party (Mid Coast Marketing) in the 1990's in place of the originally-planned stamp and is not valid for postage. It pictures an atomic bomb mushroom cloud with the Enola Gay airplane flying away. This auction is for a complete set of 4 different types/varieties of this atomic bomb "stamp", as follows:Type 1 - Stamp printed with flat ink (not glossy) - pictured on top row, at left.Type 2 - Stamp printed with glossy ink, airplane outlined - pictured on top row, at right.Type 3 - Self-adhesive (peel and stick) version - normal lettering at bottom of stamp - large perforations - pictured on bottom row, at left.Type 4 - Self-adhesive (peel and stick) version - bold lettering at bottom of stamp - small perforations - pictured on bottom row, at right. All stamps are in mint condition and will be sent in an archival-quality protective display card. The "History Denied" information card that is pictured will also be included. The articles that are pictured are shown with permission of the original creator of these stamps and are for informational purposes only - they are not included with this auction.Bid with confidence - I have been an active eBay member since 1999 and my feedback rating speaks for itself.Shipping by USPS First Class Mail, with tracking. Please check out my eBay store for a wide variety of popular and historic stamp sets, including many more WWII stamps!
