Description: PLEASE VISIT MY WIFE'S EBAY SITE- "TRUCKDEAL"- ALSO! WE'LL BOTH BE SURE YOU'RE IN GREAT HANDS!! Here is a unique antique hot water bed or foot warmer made of porcelain or ceramic! I collected antiques prodigiously from 1980 until about 10 years ago during my travels across the Midwest during demolition jobs, and transformer de-commissioning work. I have a large collection of decent to high-end antique items. I only bought the best or I didn't waste my money! And I spent a lot over the years! I made 2 trips to Rapid City SD in the mid '90s doing huge transformer decommissioning jobs. Both times I stopped in Mitchell SD, the home of the famous Corn Palace! This city is at the eastern edge of the huge Rosebud Indian reservation land. I stopped at a large antique store there. I was exposed to things that are not as common in the central Midwest, so I loaded up both times! Some things I have already sold, some I will list later. They were amazing articles, some of them!! This one is a pottery glazed foot warmer. In asking about the apparent age of the bottle, I was told that there are modern examples of this exact bottle! Some were made in the 1940s and 50s, in England, and there was another run in the '70s and early '80s when microwaves came out, that declared safe to use in a microwave or oven. Both runs have a maker name on the bottom, or directions for use, depending on what run they were from. THE OWNER OF THE SHOP, A REAL EXPERT ON ANTIQUE MATTERS, TOLD ME THIS WAS AN ORIGINAL VERSION, WITH NO MANUFACTURER STAMP OR STENCIL! HE SAID THIS IS HOW TO TELL! HE ALSO SAID THE GLAZE FINISH ON THE RE-ISSUED TYPES HAD WHAT LOOKS LIKE TINY PEPPER FLAKES ON THE FINISH, AND A LESS GLASSY FIRED MATERIAL, THAT WON'T HAVE THE CRAZING LIKE THIS ONE HAS. HE CLAIMED THIS ONE WAS FROM THE 1890S TO ABOUT 1910. POSSIBLY IMPORTED FROM ENGLAND, BUT UNKNOWN WITHOUT A MAKER'S MARK. SO IF HE IS CORRECT, THIS ITEM IS VERY OLD INDEED!! I respected his word on this.....he was very knowledgeable and I bought many items from him, a few of them were really rare and amazing! One was an actual 1200 pound railroad car coupler from the 1880s!!! I was in a semi, so I had lots of room!!! That article I sold to the Railroad Museum in Green Bay Wisconsin in the early 2000s! It is undamaged with no cracks or chips, and the gutta percha screw-in plug is intact! I AM GIVING A COUPLE OTHER THINGS FROM MITCHELL TO MY WIFE DEE TO LIST ON HER SITE.....SHE NEEDS HER SALES NUMBERS UP TO KEEP HER TOP SELLER STATUS GOING!!! Mike
