Description: Vintage Hakata Urasaki doll, made from clay (bisque porcelain ningyo) and finely hand painted. Description: A female wearing traditional attire kneels on the ground while testing the temperature or flavor of a bowl of porridge. The artisan has chosen a color palette of muted blue and grey for her clothes and apron, while adding flourishes of yellow straps and red obi. Provenance: This is a hand made Hakata doll from 1960. The doll was made in Japan by Norcrest Fine China Company. These decorative sculptures were exported to customers in Europe and the USA. The previous owner was an American collector from California and this piece was originally purchased at a flea market in Fukuoka in 1981, and recently acquired by us through an estate sale. Dimensions: 7.5" x 6.5" x 4.5" Condition: In good vintage condition. The doll shows some minor scuffing around the bowl, consistent with its age. There are no chips, and only a few spots of old dirt and dust. Overall, this is a special piece and rare to be found without chips, in this well-preserved condition. Be well.
