Purchased in a small jewelry store inParma, Italy 30 years ago.Just over 7/8" long, 5/8" wide.Well made hinged back - not original to the earrings. Many of the antique earrings from Europe were remade from drop dangle earrings with more modern and secure backs.Elegant raised, puffed center, surrounded by border- sort of a shield design. Originally had 8 tiny pearls, each is missing one pearl. It's possible that two of the tiny pearls are faux pearls, one has a grey tone and one is mounted a bit deeper, when I rub the other earring w pearls against it those two do not feel like real pearls. .192 ounces, 5.47 grams. In todays market, worth about $345 in gold. Gold is not hallmarked, not unusual with the reworked antique European jewelry. This is the third pair of Italian earrings I have listed, purchased from jewelry stores that reworked them with the hinged back, none have a gold hallmark. All have been taken to a jeweler who has assured me they are 18K gold.
