Description: This beautiful silver-plated bowl/platter with pierced rim is 11 3/4" by approximately 1" high. It belonged to my grandmother. Her maiden name was Kauflie, which I think would explain the large engraved K in the center. If it even is a K. :) I have no idea how often it was used other than once it came to my mother in the 1950s or 60s, it sat in a box until I inherited it, where it continued to sit in a box. The little bit of research I have done explains that it was created by E G Webster & Son, a silver plating company in New York. Elizur G. Webster started the company in 1860, and eventually formed a partnership with his son, Fred H. Webster, in 1886. Elizur died in 1900, and Fred continued the business until 1928 when it was sold to International Silver Company. The markings on the plate are EGW&S, which would date it between 1886 and 1928. And I believe the EPNS stands for electroplated nickel silver. The condition is accurately shown in the photos, but if you would like additional photos taken, please ask.
