Description: Primitive coastal Maine landscape by Mary E. Leeman (Mary Emily Huey Leeman 1853-1921). Mrs. Leeman was a longtime milliner in New Harbor, Maine and a well respected amateur painter. As noted in her obituary "... Always seeing the beautiful in things about her, and because of her natural artistic tastes, she loved painting and found great pleasure in changing a plain canvas into a beautiful picture." The location depicted in the scene is a view of the Pemaquid Rover located along the Harrington Rd. in Pemaquid (Bristol), Maine and was the view from the birthplace of one of her peers, and who passed this along in the family until now. The location was recorded on the back in the 1990's by a grandchild of the first owner. 7 1/4" x 10" sight in 14" x 16 1/2" frame
