Description: This antique travel journal/guide is a rare find for any collector or enthusiast of History & especially Exposition history The journal is a hardcover binding and contains handwritten notes & etchings of the buildings from the 1876 Centennial EXPO in Philadelphia, PA & the last 1/2 of the book has many poems written, doodle drawings (very small), several pages ofRecipes & also a ledger of music lessons. Also, the book gives pages on Steamliners to use, how the city is laid out (parallelograms), hackney carriage fares, places of amusement, railroad depots & ticket offices. Just an amazing piece of Americana...published by a Company in the area ( whom was celebrating their 25th anniversary). The writing is small and a bit hard to read so I didn't spend much time reading them but I'm sure there's fascinating history to take in. The pages are filled with detailed descriptions and beautiful illustrations of the various exhibits and events that took place during the exposition. The journal is an original piece and has not been reprinted or facsimiled. It is a must-have for anyone interested in the history of travel and exploration.
