Friend, engineer, and producer Jeremy Mendicino (of Boston's Pretty & Nice) was flown down to Florida to help the band record 2016's Hyper Self out of the 50+ songs they had written during that time. Almost gone, but certainly not forgotten, is the band's original playing field of insurgent country and Americana. In it's place, the Grapes explore new territory, particularly 1990s indie and garage rock with a fair share of sonic psychedelic soundscapes.
