Prepare a pot by filling it with equal parts of sand and rich potting soil that feeds for at least 3 months. DO NOT USE EXTRA FERTILIZER. Dampen the mixture. Make a small hole in the soil with your finger. Re-cut the bottom end of the Muscadine with a sharp blade at a slight angle about 1/4" below a node. (Rooting hormone may be used if desired.) Place the cutting into the hole about 3" deep making sure to leave at least one node above the soil. Then back-fill the hole with soil. Provide moisture by cutting the bottom of a milk jug off then place it over the cutting with the LID OFF. Place in bright indirect sunlight (NO DIRECT SUN). These will do best when if you keep the temperature about 75F to 80F. Heating grow pad may be used if needed. Keep the soil damp but not soaked (well drained). You can expect the plants to be rooted in 7 to 8 weeks. Move gradually into full sun after 2 months. Plant outdoors after well established in early spring or late fall only.
