Description: 1975 Original Fernand Léger Poster - Galerie Berggruen - Huiles, aquarelles, dessins Galerie Berggruen juin - septembre 1975 Lithographic print by Desjobert, Paris Lithograph after a drawing from 1920 Poster for the Berggruen Gallery exhibition in 1975, signed "FL" in the plate. Size: 19 3/8 x 26 inches (49 x 66 cm) Fernand Léger: Though Fernand Léger built his reputation as a Cubist, his style varied considerably from decade to decade, fluctuating between figuration and abstraction and showing influence from a wide range of sources. Léger worked in a variety of media including paint, ceramic, film, theater and dance sets, glass, print, and book arts. While his style varied, his work was consistently graphic, favoring primary colors, pattern, and bold form. Galerie Berggruen: Heinz Berggruen (b. 1914) opened a shop in Paris after World War II, selling rare and limited editions. In 1952 he opened a gallery in Paris, becoming one of the most important post-war dealers in classic Modern art, Picasso, Klee, Matisse, Léger, and Miro, with a large and significant clientele. After his retirement in 1982 he donated 90 works to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This poster is in excellent condition. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
