1930s Premium 17J Buren Grand Prix Mvmt Cal 17 18/12 (17L)

Description: Fresh from the estate of a retired Swiss-trained watchmaker, a genuine Swiss-Made Buren Cal 17 18/12 movement. This super-premium watch movement was often found in solid Gold watchcases -- which according to the watchmaker's notes is what happened to this watch's case. According to the notes, the "solid 14K case" was "Scrapped 12/2013" yielding "$795.18"... Which is not bad since according to his records he paid "$525.00 to S. Moore" for the watch, although how he paid and where this transaction was accomplished is missing from his records. About this movement - we were unable to time it properly since it is obviously missing the crown, and we also did not want to keep it out in the 'open air' to attract any particles since it looks quite clean. However, with a pair of plyers we turned the crown 1/2 turn and the watch started right up...leading us to believe it is in good condition and possibly keeping time. It has been running on that 1/2 turn for 20 minutes! The blued hands present are in good condition, as is the stem and movement - which is quite gleaming and makes us wonder if he serviced it recently - as he was known to recase watch movements in more modern cases and service them when doing so.
