Description: Title: Superb O/C French Commandant Major Veteran in the French Artillery Portrait Painting Description: Renowned for his oil on canvas landscape paintings, French artist Pierre-Gustave Paltz (France 1855-1921) commissioned this beautiful piece depicting a portrait of a Commandant Major Veteran in the French Artillery. Wonderful detail and aesthetic colors on this Major where he can be seen in a very stout and proud pose. The portrait highlights the Major wearing his uniform, his French Officers Kepi and displaying what appears to be a Legion of Honour, a Croix de Guerre and set of ribbon bars. The artists combination of blending rich colors on this piece promotes a very soothing and almost enriching aspiration you can fee. Painting is housed in original mounting frame with nails and some type of ink marking, possibly manufactures mark on the back. You can see the outline of "Paris" beneath in the circle.Condition: Great, minor sign of wear, stains, damage, cracks, holes etc. but all in all a superb piece. Please refer to photos for further condition report.
