Description: For sale is a rare 1832 Capped Bust Silver Half Dollar. The Capped Bust Half Dollar was minted 1807 to 1839 and are very scarce because they minted so few of them. It is a very unique coin because it had words actually stamped into the edge of the coin that said "FIFTY CENTS OR HALF A DOLLAR." The Mint did not letter the edge of any other coin until the modern Presidential Dollars of today. In 1832 they minted a couple different varieties of the coin. This is the "Large Letters" variety which refers to the type of font used in the lettering. The biggest thing that makes this coin so top shelf is its decent mi-grade, which is so tough to find Capped Bust Halves in. And like all Capped Bust Halves this coin is also 90% silver. As you can see from the pics the coin is in really nice shape, and it would grade at a decent XF grade, which is considered high for Capped Bust Halves. The date, stars, and all lettering are strong and bold. Every letter of LIBERTY on the obverse and all the eagle's feathers on the reverse is present which is usually the first thing to wear down on these coins. The coin has lots of luster to it, and it has no major damage, but its only flaw is that is has had some minor cleaning at some point. I did reduce of the coin nicely due to the cleaning, otherwise it would be priced MUCH higher. This is a great collectable coin great for any collection. Thanks!
