The ends are squared and ground flat to compress straight. If using a power adjuster to pre-load it, this is the strongest spring you can use without damaging a variable-pump model. If not using a power adjuster you can use our .042" WD spring. In general, using our .042 spring with a power adjuster to preload it or our .045 spring will damage the hammer pin and valve stem, especially if shooting at low pump numbers or dry-firing with no pressure in the valve. If using valves sold by others that are modified to operate on 20-40 pumps the .042 may need to be preloaded with a power adjuster or you can use our .045 spring but be aware that damage to the hammer pin and valve stem are typical with those modified valve setups. Do not use our .042 spring with a power adjuster to preload it or our .045 spring with our custom 13XX valves, they produce more power with less hammer-spring force on 15-17 pumps than valves modified to operate on 20-40 pumps. They don't require as much hammer-spring force, using too much will damage the hammer pin and valve stem. For the lightest possible pull and best overall performance use the minimum amount of hammer-spring tension needed to get the power level you need.
